BEAUTY: BarryM Mermaid Nails

Anyone who knows me, will know that I am a little obsessed with BarryM nail varnish.
I have a mental box in my bathroom filled with them!
So when I spotted a new collection on Twitter - with a mermaid/aquarium theme, well I died and went to heaven. As an Ariel-wannabe this collection was right down my street.

As a Monday treat, I popped to Superdrug to check out the collection and bring home some newbies to add to my collection.

I decided on the pink/gold colours as I prefer a more neutral girly tone on my nails, and don't often stray into blue nails.
The two of three in this colour range that I picked up were Caspian for the base and Treasure Chest for the top coating.

This pale pink and gold shimmering base is beautiful and could stand on its own well. As with most of the BarryM collection, this colour does need two coats to get some depth, but once dried, this is a really pretty colour, with an interesting shimmer/two-tone effect.
To top it off is a pink and gold glitter mix that really is like treasure. Again this needs two coats to really have an impact, and I really layered them up with think coats each time to give lots of sparkle.
This glitter coat is quite textured as the glitter itself has a shredded effect so I would advise a clear topcoat to finish, and to seal in that glitter. I used the BarryM Basecoat, Topcoat and Nail Hardener.

These photos don't really do the colour justice - in some lights the base looks totally gold, and others an antique gold. I will admit it does generally have a more gold look than any other colour which is a little disappointing. I think I'm going to give Mediterranean a try, which is the last in the pink/gold collection.
Plus after ready this review - I'm very tempted to try the Arabian blue/green for a proper Mermaid finish.
What do you think? A payday treat?

Find the whole collection at Superdrug, plus they are on deal right now, 2 for £6.

What do you think of these colours? Or any of the other colours in the collection?
And is a mermaid tattoo for you after seeing this polish?
