LIFESTYLE: Holiday fun in Bodrum, Turkey

As you will likely know I spent the first week of June in Gumbet, a town in the area of Bodrum in the South West of Turkey.

So many people had reservations about myself and my friend visiting Turkey, especially with the current conflict and problems in Syria - which borders Turkey.
However, I have to say, despite the warnings from ill-informed friends, Bodrum felt like one of the safest and nicest places I've ever been to.
We stayed at the brilliant Greenhouse Apart Hotel in Gumbet, and I would 100% go back in a heartbeat. The staff make you feel like family, and the guests all connect and hang out together like old friends, which you don't often get in abroad holidays.

We spent many a very sunny, very hot day by the pool and the evenings eating and drinking. Being so close to the main strop, Bar Street, meant plenty of places for drinks and food.

We had a traditional Turkish spa day and massage. It was an unusual experience for day two, but lovely. The scrub and foam massage left us both feeling a little confused! But our skin did feel amazing.

Another particular highlight was our boat trip on Friday. An absolute must for any one visiting Bodrum. Our hotel organised ours for £17 per person, all inclusive. We departed around 11am and got back at around 4:30pm with five stops, including four in the middle of the sea for a swim.

We also went to an entertaining Turkish night (BBQ night) at our hotel, with a belly dancer, break dancers, karaoke and bingo.

What more can I say about Bodrum?
Honestly, it's a great place for a relaxed summer holiday. Early June has great temperatures if around 28-30 degrees. The food everywhere is fab, and drinks not badly priced.
I think what really made it for me, was the people. Everyone is genuinely happy and chatty, and especially in our hotel, such a delight to be around - Hero, Engin, Deano and Arthur truly made our holiday unforgettable.

I would 100% recommend a trip, if you can take the heat, and strongly advise that Greenhouse is the best place to stay at in Gumbet. There repeat visitors and Tripadvisor reviews really prove their value and service.
