Last month at the Brighton Blog Meet Up I discovered a new brand that I'm kind of loving and wanted to share a little more about, purepotions.
Purepotions is a Brighton-based skincare brand who specialise in natural skincare for problem areas made from locally sourced and organic ingredients. According to their website:
"Purepotions began trying to help a little girl find a safe, effective, dry skin treatment. So naturally, all of our products are suitable for babies, children and adults and can be safely applied to any area of the body, including the face, hands and scalp. We will not use ingredients known to cause harm.
We use high quality ingredients as close to their natural state as possible and ensure they are not highly processed or modified. Those ingredients are organic where possible and are always 100% natural. We only use ingredients that are essential to moisturising and nourishing the skin. For this reason we will not use fragrances and perfumes, or any other artificial additives that involve preservatives or petrochemicals."
They are also cruelty-free, but able to be used on everyone, adults, children and babies. Which brings us to the products I really want to talk about.
Purepotions Baby Skincare range has been specifically formulated for babies sensitive skin. Within the range is their Lavender Nappy Salve* and their Chamomile Baby Oil*. Both contain all natural ingredients and no preservatives, ensuring they are as kind as possible to your babies skin.
The nappy salve comes in a super cute purple pot, small enough to be handy in a changing bag, but large enough for home use too. It's even a multi-purpose ointment, not just for babies bum or dried dribble chin, but for mum too, being useful for any dry skin including on lips or hands. Just warm a little in your hands and apply to the affected area. I'm really excited about using this in the future, and it is already earmarked for my changing bag.
The baby oil has been designed for after babies bath to reduce the drying effect of water on your babies skin. The chamomile and lavender essential oils are great calming baby and are known essential oils for aiding sleep which is perfect for after an evening bath. Again it contains no parabens, petrochemicals or preservatives which reduces the risk of reaction from babies skin. It can also be used by adults as a gentle cleanser, massage oil or beard oil. So everyone in the house is happy!
Plus Chamomile Baby Oil won the Best Baby Massage Oil in the Beauty Shortlist Baby Awards 2015 and in 2011 was a finalist for the Soil Association Best Baby Product Award.
As someone who is suffering from pregnancy eczema on my legs I'm trying out the oil after my baths to see how effective it is for me, which will hopefully give a good indication of how baby will react too.
I really can't recommend this brand enough at the moment, so I'm really hoping that Baby Bee loves the range as much as I do. I'll be doing a full review in a few months with baby's first impressions and how it's working for us.
Purepotions also have a Dry Skincare Range which includes Skin Salvation Intensive Moisturising Ointment, Daily Moisturising Cream, Scalp Oil, Intensive Hand Cream and Bath and Body Oil. These aim to relieve dry skin ailments such as eczema and psoriasis in as natural a way as possible.
Their First Aid Range is made up of four rescue salves, Tea Tree, Lavender, Arnica and Calendula & Comfrey. These little 15ml handy pots are great for little skincare emergencies such as cold sores, stings, spots and bites.
And lastly, their Organic Rosehip Oil for Scars. The oil is designed as a natural, moisturising oil for stretch marks, uneven skin, dehydrating or ageing skin. The additional vitamin A and C, as well as essential fatty acids omega-3 and omega-6 also aids with skin recovery. Think of it as a super-natural, locally sourced version of Bio-Oil.
As a little side note,if you do try out these products, make sure you undertake a small skin patch test for 24 hours to ensure you don't have a reaction to any of the natural ingredients. This is especially important for the baby skincare range for your little one just to make sure they don't react to anything in the oil or the nappy salve.
Let me know if you've tried the range before, and leave your thoughts in the comments below.
