FOOD: An evening at the Artisan, Southampton

Artisan Evening Menu Launch

A few weeks back I had a little evening out with some of the blogging girls, and guys, with the Artisan in Southampton. Back in September we went across to their new launch after they re-furbed and re-branded, so I was pretty excited to try out their new menu launch.
They are launching a new evening nibbles menu ready for the summer which perfectly combines excellent food and great wine in the heart of the cultural quarter of Southampton.

Unfortunately due to Baby Bee I couldn't have the amazing selection of wines which were specifically selected to match the food options available, but I can tell you, they smelt amazing, and come highly recommended from the girls.

As for the menu, the Artisan has stuck with their iconic style of platters and cheese boards, but upgraded them for the evenings. There was of course a gorgeous cheese board with crackers, grapes, and a great selection of assorted cheeses.
They also had a number of platter boards including a meat board of cured meats, as well as stilton, tomatoes, melon and peppers, served with white or red wine. A gorgeous bread board, with home-made sour dough bread and salted bread sticks, served with three different infused oils. There was also marinated olives, feta cheese and mixed nuts. Plus baked brie with more salted bread, and last but by no means least, a stunning rockets, pear, proscuitto and goats cheese salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. All served with matching wines, a few ales and miniature cocktails and prosecco. I stuck with orange juice and sparkling water - rock n roll I know!

The food was so good, with so much of it made in the kitchens rather than bought in. And the drinks seemed to perfectly match the food. Plus who doesn't love a large amount of cheese with wine on a summer evening?
Southampton's cultural quarter is really starting to pick up and is going to be the perfect place to hang out come the summer. So looking forward to girls night chilling in the evening sun with good food, good wine and even better company.
