LIFESTYLE: Summer bucketlist 2016

Summer is definitely the season for adventures am I right. This year is the first summer as three of us, so I kind of want to make it a special one. Yes I know it's going to be a hard one with a tiny one in tow but I want to start creating memories as early as possible, even if they are just for Dann and I.

So this summer I'm creating a little bucket list that I'm going to share with you all in the hopes that I will tick them all off by September (maybe the end of September as we always seem to have nicer weather then!)
 Fairy Festival
We've already kind of pre-arranged to attend the Fairy Festival with two families so am hopeful this will be an easy tick off the list. Held in the Burley, in the New Forest, Hampshire over the weekend of the 13th and 14th August, this weekender promises to be a magical event for little ones and adults. Yes my little one is probably going to be too small to do anything or appreciate it, but how cute will they look with fairy wings. And I'll take any opportunity to wear some pink wings myself! The weekend comprises of a fairy market, healing area, and performances from belly dancers, puppets and circus skills as well as story-telling and tarot reading. If you're in Hampshire and would like to attend, you can buy tickets here.

Southampton Tattoo Festival
We attended last years first ever Southampton Tattoo Festival and thoroughly enjoyed it (you can read about it here) and would love to go again this year. This may be a tricky one, depending on when Baby Bee arrives into the world as it's over the weekend of the 9th and 10th July at the Ageas Bowl, Hampshire. I'm hoping this might be our first proper family outing with Baby Bee, even if it's only for a couple of hours out of the house as a three. Basically Southampton Tattoo Festival combines tattooing, a vintage market and old school cars and bikes in one great venue. Even if you're not a huge fan of tattooing it's still a lovely trip out, especially if the sun is shining like last year and you grab an ice cream. Tickets are available on the day, or can be purchased here.)

Marwell Zoo
Who doesn't the zoo? And our local one, Marwell Zoo is such a lovely one. Not so massive that you're exhausted by the end of the day, but large enough that it does fill a day properly. I know Baby Bee won't appreciate it yet, but I still want to go, probably with friends.

Riverside walk back home
Both myself and Dann are from Buckinghamshire originally, and Marlow is a place close to both of our hearts. Our reception venue was on the river at Marlow, and I spent many a summer there growing up. I want to start a few traditions early so a walk by the river, feeding the ducks is kind of the perfect tradition, stemming from my own childhood memories.

Picnics at Victoria Country Park
One that will likely be done in the company of my girlfriends, Victoria Country Park edges onto the Solent in Netley Abbey, Hampshire and is the perfect location for a summertime picnic. Definitely need a sunny day for this, so fingers crossed.

Seaside trips
Although I'd love to say this would be somewhere sandy like Bournemouth or somewhere in Cornwall, the likehood is that it will be a Southampton pebble beach, but a beach is a beach! I really want to get out of the house as much as possible and ensure we don't get cooped up. So some planned beach walks sounds perfect for a simple get out of the house.

Garden BBQs
As we have a nice sized garden, a BBQ and a firepit it only makes sense to put them to good use this summer. We only really got to have two summer BBQs this summer, so would like to at least match that again this year.

Summer baking
I love baking and trying out new recipes in the kitchen so I'm hoping to try out some summer desserts, especially Eton Mess/Fruit Pavlova. They could totally work out well for picnics and summer BBQs.

So that's my little summer bucketlist. It's short and sweet, but with a newborn I don't want to push my luck, but also don't want to waste the summer.

  1. My only goal is to try and get down the beach this year! Even if it's just for the day.
