My little baby boy is growing up so fast.
I have to admit, when he was first born and I was trying to learn as much as possible about being a mother as fast as I could, that I was looking forward to him being older, but I'm now at the stage where I kind of miss him being so tiny. Maybe it's from looking back over the photos from the last three months that I'm feeling a little nostalgic.
Anyway, Henry has just turned three months old and although I may miss some of the tiny baby stage, I am loving seeing his personality develop, and helping him to learn new things - and these beautiful photos from The Photo Rooms have really made me love this stage even more! (lots of info at the end of the post about the shoot!)
Henry is by far one of the happiest babies I've ever met. So long as he's had milk and isn't too tired he is laughing and smiling away. He adores being on his changing table in his nursery - no idea why but no matter his mood he is instantly all smiles when he's placed on there. He now recognises both myself and Dann and literally lights up when he sees us which takes my breath away more often than not. His laugh literally makes me so happy, I swear my heart actually physically swells with love.
He's got amazing head control, and loves to be held in our arms and walked around the house. He's really inquisitive which I'm proper stoked about as I hope this continues as he grows up so we can go exploring and learning together.
He's also gaining lots more control of his arms and is really concentrating on his toys on his playmat. He's also started to reach for my face if it's close enough which is crazy cute. I'm really loving this development stage, and am finding it so rewarding. The only big downside is that he's also developed a liking for grabbing fists full of my hair!! Which is a bit of a pain as I really dislike having my hair tied up, but needs must.
We've also managed to settle into a pretty good routine in the last few weeks. We're still pretty flexible with timings because I really believe that you shouldn't push little babies into a set routine, and that flexibility is key to keeping sane - especially as development leaps kind of mess up routines. We have settled into a couple of naps, sometimes three, and a good bedtime routine, as well as the occasional sleeping through the night - well til 5am ish - I'm working on getting him later but it's not working so well - advice welcome!
We've done a fair few trips out, and even went up to Northampton with him for his cousin's Christenings, and he was so well behaved for the entire trip. To be honest, he's generally just a happy and well behaved baby which I am so pleased about.
We went and had a little photoshoot to mark his month birthday with The Photo Rooms as part of their one year anniversary, so I thought I'd share the photos in this post - yes Henry fell asleep towards the end of the photo, but we actually managed some rather cute photos, and that top one was when he woke up from his 15 minute nap and was really happy with his snooze.
You may recognise the style from my maternity shoot which was also done by them! We're really looking forward to doing his six month photos with them too, though they'll be done a tiny bit early at the end of November, but still it's really great getting to see him develop. Plus these shoots are almost the only time we can get a photo as a family - we really need to work on our tripod and self timer skills.
If you're a Southampton/Hampshire local, please do check out their Facebook page - they always have offers and competitions running so it's well worth a look.
