LIFESTYLE: Sharing my tattoo love with my husband

Today I have officially been with my lover (aka husband) for seven years. Yay us!

We met when I was 18 and I'm often asked how we met and how our relationship works so well. So here's my story and some little bits of advice on surviving a long term relationship even through the tough times.

Our story is totally not glamourous.

We did not know each other at all when we met. We were complete strangers (though we did find we had a couple of friends in common a little while later... small world, right!).

I was out for a girls night the day after Valentines Day and he was out for a lads night. We just happened to be on tables next to each other and the two groups joined after a discussion about male body hair (apparently that is normal at 18!).

Dann and I got talking because of, yep you guessed it, tattoos. Admittedly back then, I had one small tattoo on my ankle, and he had an arm piece (literally about half his bicep) and a teeny one on the back of his neck. But it started a great night of chatting and drinking.

Forward to a couple of days later and two meet ups and dates, and he asked me out (via text because he was nervous).

Now seven years,
three flats,
17 jobs,
three abroad holidays,
two cats,
four weddings attended,
two engagement rings,
three cars
and one wedding of our own,
we are settled... well... kind of... but we love our unconventional and extraordinary relationship.

  1. Such a beautiful post to enjoy! !

  2. What a cute story! You two are a great looking couple!

    1. Aww thanks huni! Blushing over here! xx

  3. Aww, this made me smile when I read it. I love the photograph of you both lying on the bed - guessing that's from your wedding day!
    What a sweet post anyway.

    1. Yes it is from our wedding day - you can't see the huge wedding dress so much in the photo. We disappeared off during our reception for this photo.

      Thank you xx

  4. Aw what a lovely love story!

    1. Aww thank you... it's an unusual love story that's for sure.

  5. Aw I loved reading this! I met my husband when we were young too... we actually met when we were 13! But didn't get together until 3 years later. Happy Anniversary!

    1. Bless you. Now that is a true love story!
