You know those weekends where you have zero plans and you just kind of wing it and then they turn out to be the best ones. Yeah those.
That’s the kind of weekend we had at the beginning of the month and it was glorious.
It was another weekend of endless sunshine, so after a crappy Friday afternoon, I suggested we head to Hayling Island early on Saturday to hopefully reset some karma.
We headed out pretty early and arrived around 9am on the beach front, parked up and went for a little walk. Shortly after arriving Dexter needed a feed so I fed him in the car whilst Henry and Dann had some alone time. Then we headed to the fun fair for a few rides, drinks and hot donuts. Let’s be honest, every trip to the beach needs hot sugary donuts! And Fanta Lemon. Does that not instantly make you think of holidays? We had to let Henry have some at the end, though. The kid loves drinking from a big bottle.
We then headed back out to the beach and I had a little wander in the sea, which Henry eventually came around to as well.
So our first time in the British sea was a success.. because once his toes were in, he decided to wade out further (at this point I’d put his shoes back on as Hayling Island beach is very pebbley and it kills the soles of your feet) and was just in the sea.
Obviously because he’s never shown an interest in going in the sea before we had no swim stuff with us, though thankfully we had thought to bring a spare set of clothes, and happened to have a towel in the car from our previous Splash Pad adventure. But it was all 100% worth it to see him so happy. Also luckily I was wearing shorts under my dress so I took that off rather than get tangled up! And as you’ll see from the last photo, our spare clothes for Henry were a hit, as was the ice cream before we headed home for nap time.
Give me more days in the sun like these!
As a mother who loves to travel, I’d love to take Henry on a trip to Disneyland Paris someday. The trip won’t be cheap, but I’ve learned that I can buy or rent a Disney Vacation Club timeshare on the DVC Resale Market at a steeply discounted price.
